What are Golden Doodles?
The Goldendoodle gets its name from its mixed heritage - a golden retriever bred with a poodle.  Goldendoodles are a hybrid dog, a first generation cross, and as such they exhibit "hybrid vigour" the term used to describe the burst of fertility, good health and growth that is seen in the offspring when two unrelated breeds are mated.
Generations are:
F1 (retriever bred to a poodle)
F2 (F1 bred to F1).
When an F1 is bred back to a poodle (somethimes called crossback), the abbreviation used will be F1 B or simply the percentage of retriever to poodle - as in R25~P75.
It sounds more confusing then it is.
The sizes we breed currently  are standard. Sizes can vary in each litter.
The "coat" category is based on the owners opinion, flat, wavy, or curly, or combinations.
The hybrid cross between these parent breeds are terrific family dogs, friendly, highly intelligent, affectionate and easy to train.

Are Golden Doodles really non-shedding?
Many poodle crosses inherit the fur qualities of the poodle, but not the texture.  This means that "most do not shed", and may not produce an allergic reaction. For allergies it should be pointed out that there are a few types of allergies to dogs -  allergy to saliva, and allergy to dander, and sometimes an allergy to urine. But, most people have allergies to the hair that sheds off of the dog, that is why they have bred with poodles, for poodles do not shed. No dog is truly hypoallergenic; no matter what someone may tell you!
I have a lot of people inquire as to the proper grooming of a Golden Doodle.  Since Doodles are not AKC there is no standard but......These are Golden Doodles, Not Poodles....We must keep them looking like the wonderful crossbreed that they are.  This means to me, a shaggy mop looking coat. Doodles do not all have this coat so a Doodle parent needs to groom the dog as per the coat. If you happen to have a very curling doodle, it may be easier to keep his/her coat shorter. Just make sure you tell your groomer just what you want, since most groomers seem to groom them like a poodle...ugh!

About our Puppies
Our puppies nurse off their mother solely for three weeks. At about  this time pups are introduced to a warm formula that is made up of goats milk, plain yogart, egg yolks, mayo, karo syrup and a little baby rice cereal. (They of course are still nursing off mamma). Followed by a mixture of grinded up kibble with warm water. Puppies are than fed whole kibble sometimes mixed with warm water or chicken broth. Puppies are free feed. Puppies nurse until 8 weeks or later (I let mamma deside that). Puppies are paper trained, and learn to go outside throughout the day. They are free to go outside to play and get fresh air. We introduce them to water play at an early age. They are very playful and all of them have different personalities.  Even at this age they enjoy the freedom to run about without mama. No mistake though, Mamma is always close by with a watchful eye. We do not put puppies on leads at this age.  We can not stress enough that our puppies are raised in a family orientated  environment. They are part of our family until they are a part of yours.
